Why We Must Save the Polar Bears

Polar Bear

Wildlife refuges by law are mandated to be untouched for commercial purposes. Despite the law the Obama Administration has supported Dutch owned Shell Oil’s plan to drill off the coastline of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge — the polar bear’s most important habitat in Alaska.

Most people will say, Polar Bears…So What? It doesn’t impact me!  But the fact is everything that impacts this planet that supports and sustains life impacts us. Ebola was in Africa two months ago. It didn’t impact you…but now two months later it does. Through M-Theory and String Theory we now understand the inter-connection of all matter. Of plant, animal, energy to one another. Disturb one you disturb the other. When drought impacts fruit in California, fruit at Publix in Canton Goes up. There is just no place to run…no place to hide anymore.

According to the government’s own estimates, there’s a very real danger of at least one major oil spill if Shell moves forward with full-scale production. Even worse, the oil industry has no proven method for cleaning up oil in the Arctic’s ice-filled waters. So the death toll of oil-soaked and poisoned polar bears, whales and seals would be unimaginable. Some will again say. so what? Well again it will impact us.How?…think about it.

When our companion animals and our life-sustaining animals are killed, our trees cut down, our local streams, rivers and oceans polluted, our soil eroded, we won’t need gasoline for our cars… as we’ll all be dead. The greatest democracy ever, not attacked from the outside but destroyed from within, by greed, ignorance and immoral leaders.

“A human being is a part of the whole, called by us the ‘Universe’, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings, as something separate from the rest – a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty. Nobody is able to achieve this completely, but the striving for such achievement is in itself a part of the liberation and a foundation for inner security.”— Albert Einstein

Fortunately the power to change things is still available to us. We all have busy lives, but now and then we must take a stand. Now and then we must draw a line in the sand and say no more; enough is enough. Join with Green Pets America and donate to our Eco Green Fund to educate on this subject. Or donate to another group you support that educates and advocates for our animals and our environment. Send a letter to your elected officials. Start your own cause to advocate for sanity. What you do is not as important as realizing that you still have the power to do something.
